Hi Michael,
Thank you for your post.
Firstly, I would just like to explain that there are four main reasons why a creditor will contact you directly and they are as follows:
1) You are new to a Debt Line plan
2) A payment has been missed on your plan
3) An incorrect reference number has been quoted
4) The debt has been sold on to another company
In this instance, it sounds like the reason you have have had a creditor contact you directly will be because of reason 4. Moorcroft are a debt collection agency and it would appear that they are now collecting on behalf of one of your creditors, Vodafone. This is a completely normal process and nothing that you need to be concerned about.
Your creditors can normally only look after a debt for a certain amount of days in arrears. Once this time has passed they will sell the debt onto a company to collect for them, in this instance Moorcroft. The good news is that collections agencies are used to dealing with people in financial difficulty and Debt Line are now more likely to get a longer term arrangement in place with them

This would mean that there is absolutely no need for you to pay them directly, this is Debt Lines job. You pay us an amount you can afford each month and we distribute this between your creditors on a fair pro-rata basis.
What I need to do now is update your Debt Line plan so that Vodafone is noted down as Moorcroft Debt Recovery. In order for me to do this I would require you DL reference number, Postcode, D.O.B and a contact telephone number from you. I only need this information so that I can locate your Debt Line plan. Don't worry, all this information will be censored before it becomes visible on the forums, this is in order to protect your privacy and identity.
Once we have this information, I will advise one of your Account Managers to contact you. This will be to run through the letter you have received and ensure that the debt has been transferred, then we can update our system and send Moorcroft all the relevant paperwork. In the mean time there really is no need for you to make any payments directly to them.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
Erin Breen
