Hi Michael,

Thank you for your post.

Firstly, I would just like to explain that there are four main reasons why a creditor will contact you directly and they are as follows:

1) You are new to a Debt Line plan
2) A payment has been missed on your plan
3) An incorrect reference number has been quoted
4) The debt has been sold on to another company

In this instance, it sounds like the reason you have have had a creditor contact you directly will be because of reason 4. Moorcroft are a debt collection agency and it would appear that they are now collecting on behalf of one of your creditors, Vodafone. This is a completely normal process and nothing that you need to be concerned about.

Your creditors can normally only look after a debt for a certain amount of days in arrears. Once this time has passed they will sell the debt onto a company to collect for them, in this instance Moorcroft. The good news is that collections agencies are used to dealing with people in financial difficulty and Debt Line are now more likely to get a longer term arrangement in place with them :D

This would mean that there is absolutely no need for you to pay them directly, this is Debt Lines job. You pay us an amount you can afford each month and we distribute this between your creditors on a fair pro-rata basis.

What I need to do now is update your Debt Line plan so that Vodafone is noted down as Moorcroft Debt Recovery. In order for me to do this I would require you DL reference number, Postcode, D.O.B and a contact telephone number from you. I only need this information so that I can locate your Debt Line plan. Don't worry, all this information will be censored before it becomes visible on the forums, this is in order to protect your privacy and identity.

Once we have this information, I will advise one of your Account Managers to contact you. This will be to run through the letter you have received and ensure that the debt has been transferred, then we can update our system and send Moorcroft all the relevant paperwork. In the mean time there really is no need for you to make any payments directly to them.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Erin Breen

Hi.

This is about arrears of sum of £69.89 Vodafone Account and Make A Payment I received a letter from Moorcroft Group Plc the other day on it says it is written by A J SMITH.

My Account Number is *************

My Reference Number *********************.

I tried to contact Moorcroft Debt Recovery on 0161 475 2858 today and it says it is unable to recognise it cause I'm able to make a payment for £69.89 today then £79 per month I decided I could with £79 on 23rd and 24th of September. I could pay it all off by the end of this month in 3 installments of £79 my payments has come in early on 7th September 2010. I'm contacting you today to see if I can pay via PayPal or Giro Slip? Does Moorcroft Group have a PayPal Address if you do please can you send me your Moorcroft PayPal Address here.

If not then please let me pay via Giro Slip you can send me one via post if you like you got my address there.

You can give me a phone call on my Mobile Phone if you like.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Please reply

Thank you.

Hi Sarah

Thankyou for posting on our online forum and welcome to Debt Line! :D

I am sorry to hear you have had trouble in the past and can understand you are feeling wary about taking the next steps.

There is never a guarantee with debt management Sarah, that your creditors will automatically stop contacting you. We would be working on your behalf but you are still going to be a client of theirs. This means that they are obliged to notify you of the status of your account, any changes that are made, and ofcourse your balances with them.

What they are not allowed to do is harrass you for money!

You will not only be protected by us, but also by the debt management Office of Fair Trading guildlines which are :
section 2.8D = There are not allowed to contact our clients directly and bypass their appointed representative (us)
section 2.8C = They are not allowed to refuse to deal with authorised 3rd parties acting on your behalf (us)
section 2.8F = They are not allowed to make you feel under pressure to pay more than you afford

What we can guarantee Sarah is that we will offer a flexible and affordable monthly program for you, so that you can consolidate your debts and take the pressure off your shoulders. We will contact all of your creditors with a lower monthly repayment and negotiate arrangements on your behalf. We will set up a payment amount and date that suits you and keep you informed online of the progress of your account. We will also provide monthly statements so you can see your payments being cashed.

I hope that answers your question Sarah and puts your mind at ease a little? :D

Please contact one of our experienced debt advisors on 08000 914 525 who can run through the finer details with you and get you started on your journey to becoming debt-free!

Have a good weekend and we hope to hear from you very soon.

Kind regards,

Cazz
