Hi Wayne,

I'm truly sorry that you feel this way, obviously our aim and intention is to give you advise and support while we together work in getting you debt free.
I've had a look into your account today and can see that you have been having trouble with The Money Shop. The nature of the loan means that when you take this loan out you guarantee the payment usually with guaranteed cheques that your bank are obligated to adhere to.
I can see that my colleague Chloe has advised you that the only sure way of preventing The Money Shop from getting this money is to change banks, so these cheques are not obligated. We do not have the power to overwrite these guaranteed payments! I can see that this was not something you were willing to do, which is completely your decision.

I can see similarly on this call you asked for us to make a payment of £7.50 to be made to your creditor, and Chloe advised of our policy that we are sending a token payment of £1 to each of your creditors this month. Yet, when you make your payment on the 10th September this will go out to your creditors in line with the offer proposed to them in the paperwork we sent out in July.

To remind you of the process of setting up your plan with us, your first two months payments made to
DebtLine are retained as initial fees. This means that the full sum is retained, however a £1 token
payment is made to each creditor on the plan for this duration to ensure that a payment is made to
the accounts while we work to get the arrangements in place. We are proud to be one of the only
debt management companies who do send token payments out and the benefit to the plan, is that
your accounts won't default through non-payment.

On your request, I have cancelled your account for you, Unfortunately because you actually joined us on the 17th July and paid your initial fee then, your request for a refund has fallen outside of the seven day cooling off period provided, therefore you would not be entitled to a refund of £200.00. This payment has gone out to your creditors in those token payments as mentioned above.

If you have any further questions then please get in touch, you could give us a call free on 08000 919 991.
Kind Regards,
Haley.

Hi Jasvir,

Thanks for your post, I can see that you have since spoken to Mark about Vanquis, so I hope this has now been sorted for you. :)
I know how frustrating and nasty it is to receive these letters, but I wanted to explain generally why creditors like Vanquis may choose to contact you rather than us when you are on a debt management plan. Firstly, if there have been missed or late payments on the plan, Secondly, if the reference number we have saved on our system for that creditor is incorrect. Thirdly if the debt has transferred to another company.(debt collection company) Or finally, if you are new to the debt management plan and still within the first 3 months of joining Debt Line.

Looking through your plan today I can see that you are within the first two months of the plan, so it can take this time to get arrangements in place with your creditors and to begin the payments in line with the amount offered in the paperwork sent out to them. Meanwhile some people find that the still get contacted directly. This soon stops as the plan establishes itself.
I can also see you have advised Mark, that they are actually going to be sending the debt over to Impact, so this will also explain the contact from them.

With regard to the default sums that have been charged, this seems like an unusually large charge! are you sure this has been applied as a charge for late payment.
Creditors if they do default the account (usually to put the arrangement in place with us for the lower amount, or to then pass to a third party) don't charge for this!! But will advise you of how much your in arrears by, so could it be this that they are making you aware of? Alternatively have you got an payment protection insurance set up on the account that they may still be charging for which could account for this charge?

As we move forward with your plan, making the first payments to your creditors in line with the amounts offered in our proposals I feel confident that this contact will stop! Once the debt has been transferred to Impact you will be notified in writing. You can change this over online really easily, this way we can ensure that all future payments will go to Impact.

This can be done by going to "My Debts" clicking on "Vanquis" and then following the link "have you received a letter telling you that this debt has been transferred to a debt collection company?" the system will then update with Impact so that we can send paperwork straight out to them!

Hope this has helped you further, Any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch,
All the best,
Haley.

Hi Lenard,

Thanks for posting :)

If you want to change a debt i.e. from one company to another this can be done by...
> Logging into your personal account
> Clicking 'My Debts'
> Selecting the company you wish to change
> At the bottom of the page you'll see 'Have you received a letter telling you that this debt has been transferred to a debt collection company?' and click this to choose the company that your debt has been transferred to.

If you can provide the details of the company that you want to add/remove I can test this on your online account to see what's causing the problem. You can post this information here which is checked throughout the day, or email it to me at customercare@debt-line.org.uk. Can you also please send me your reference/account numbers for your Littlewoods Catalogue and for your rent account as we're waiting on these. You can also update these online by following the instructions on the home screen when you log in - www.debtlineonline.com

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Marek,

Thanks for posting - Really sad to hear that you don't want to continue with us :(

From looking at your account I can see that you actually wrote to us not so long ago to cancel your plan. This was done on August 18th. I've passed your account over to my Refunds + Investigations team and they've advised that you should receive a cheque from us by the end of next week.

Any questions, let me know and I'll arrange for a confirmation text to be sent to you letting you know when this has been posted to you. I wish you the very best in dealing with your debts, and don't forget about our Recommend a Friend scheme - for each person that comes on board from your recommendation, you'll both receive a £40 Mastercard Voucher! Just log on or call 08000 914525 with the details!

Hi Carole,

I am really sorry to hear that you are looking to cancel your plan with us, and leave the debtline family :(
Of course, I would love to know what has happened Carole which has led to your decision that a debt management plan may no longer be the best option for you!

Unfortunately without your DL reference number or postcode, I have been unable to find you, in order to cancel the account. If you could reply with these details I will be more than happy to pass your details over to your account management team to action for you.

Look forward to hearing from you soon,
Haley
