Barclays

Postby Popman » Fri Jul 16, 2010 12:27 pm

Guys

just received a statement from Barclays for the month of July

They have added charges of £71.21 and are demanding a total payment of £233.25

The charges consist of:
£12.00 late payment fee :o
£59.21 interest

Totally bewildered as to why they are acting this way without consultation.

Can you contact Barclays as a matter of urgency to rectify, and let me know outcome - thanks

Hi Popman,

Thank you for informing me about this.

This is unacceptable because they are charging you so much that your debt can't come down. This is called Obstruction. Clay is calling Barclaycard for you tomorrow as they are closed now. Clay will be asking them to refund these charges and ask them to stop or significantly reduce the interest to help secure an arrangement.

As you know, they shouldn't be requesting the full amount owed in one go. Barclaycard are breaching OFT guideline section 2.6F Putting clients under pressure to pay in full in unreasonably large amounts or when they are unable to do so.

I will send you a letter template to forward to Barclays outlining the complaint that we have, we need to give them 28 working days to resolve and respond to you. If they still haven't resolved this by then, we will help you take this further by helping you complain to the OFT directly as this unacceptable.

We will let you know the outcome as soon as we have spoken to Barclaycard.

Many Thanks
