Provident Personal Credit

Provident Personal Credit is one of the UK’s largest providers of doorstep loans and part of Provident Financial Group. They offer small loans between £100 and £1,000 and manage loan delivery and repayment collection through a country-wide network of agents. Doorstep loans are intended as a short term solution and as such come with high interest rates.

Similar to payday loans, Provident Personal Credit customers may start experiencing problems when they need to take out a further loan to pay off an initial loan. This is called ‘rolling over’ and can easily lead to a cycle of debt, which is difficult to break out of. Once behind with their payments, we know that many of our customers receive ongoing phone calls and letters chasing for payment, which makes their situation even more stressful.

At Debt Line, we’re experts in helping customers clear their doorstep loans. If you’re struggling to repay such a debt and would like us to deal with Provident Personal Credit on your behalf, fill in our simple form on the right and we’ll call you back to see if we can help.

Your initial consultation with one of our debt advisors is free of charge and you will only ever pay a fee if you enter into one of our debt solutions. To find out more about our fees, please click here.

    "do not use"

I had a provi manager call round with no identification at my front door caused a stir at my house as i refused to give them any information without the correct identification and has now asked the agent not to collect again and to return the last few weeks payment .I didnt think they could do this as by returning my money they have now put me in debt.this is a outrage as there suppoused to be helping me get out of debt and instead they have now caused me to go into debt which will effect future credit.this is a outrage provident .You have now put me in debt.it was apparently a area manager so in my eyes they should be proffesional in the way they go about there buisness and have correct identification.by me refuseing to talk to her without the correct identification the manager has taken it upon herself to instruct my agent to not to collect again .my agent was in touch and said she had to return my last 2 weeks payment .surely this isnt allowed provident are unresponsible people by not correctly train7ng there field and area managers.PROVIDENT PUT ME FURTHER INTO DEBT BY REFUSEING TO COLLECT MY MONEY

    "USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

DO NOT EVER USE THIS SERVICE I have had an awful experiance with these people. I tried to get my payments reduced so called their "customer Services" team who told me they are sending me out a form from my local head office so i could get them reduced. 3 Weeks later .... Nothing. I called them again at "customer care" and was told there is no such thing as a payment reduction form. Within this time i had also changed address i then lived above a pub. In the same conversation i asked them to change my address so i can still make payments even though they would not reduce my rate. 2 weeks later i rang back to see why i hadnt been contacted over making a payment. They then told me my address hadnt been changed and the agent will not collect from a public house even though there is a residential entrance. I then went on to ask them to set me up a direct debit which again they will not allow (surprise surprise). I asked them to change my address for a second time and requested a payment card. 2 Weeks pass AGAIN and my mother hands me a letter with my OLD address on it stating my case has been passed over to their solicitors. Not quite believing what has happened and worried for my credit record i rang them straight away and spoke to the "customer care" team who eventially after a heated debate handed me my local head offices number. I left messages and tried to conttact them 9on a number of occassions but no luck. I managed to get through and spoke to the area manager who dealt with me in a unprofesional way and sounded like a 16 year old on the street. I went through a complaints procedure as my address hadnt been changed. I do not believe this is my fault i feel i did everything in my power to help the situation and provident did aqbsolute jack. They have written to me explaining that my complaint isnt going to be take further as they did the necessary to stop this from happening. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP i am not the first to have an experiance like this

    "very expensive"

have been a provident customer for around 5 years now and have had various loans and paid them back with no problems - however this ime last year i took out 2 loans, the first one was for 1200 for which i have been charged 1132 in charges so i have to pay back 2332 and the second one for 400 for which i have been charged 300 so i have to pay back 700. my total weekly payments are for 44 per week but as i have fallen behind im paying 50 to help catch up - im just finding it incredibly difficult to keep paying this much a week, and i know its my own stupid fault for taking out loans that i cant really afford, but provident really was the easy option i was looking for when i had a relationship breakdown and was left a single parent of 3. i think its discusting what they charge in interest and agree that the government should be able to impose caps of the amount of interest these companies can charge. really these companies are just loan sharks with paperwork, nothing more and nothing less, quick to take your money but no so quick with helpful advice when you fall into arrears and have trouble paying. will definately be seeking out help to pay off this loan at a lower rate and never want to see a doorstep agent ever again!!!!

    "Bad Agent"

I have been a customer of provident on and off for years and years .. i have always been a really good payer and never missed a payment . At the begining of the year I lost my job due to the credit crunch and the company in which i was employed at folded .. Non the less i remained positive and paid my provi loan from my savings .. I soon found work but my monthly income is now considerably lower than it was before .. Now rather than get in to debt/trouble with them i phone the office to see if i coud lower my rate as i simply cannot afford what i was paying before ..It was all agreed by head office and going well .. UNTIL my agent decided i should be paying more (even tho my circumstances are still the same) .. She has done nothing but harrass me week after week calling me at home and at work and just generally being a pest .. even stopping me in the local shop and discussing it infront everyone .. I was so cross i cannot begin to tell you- WHAT HAPPENED TO DATA PROTECTION !!!!. She has no intention of stopping until i agree to an amount that i know i can't afford . I have never ever missed a payment even on the reduced rate and i feel so angry at the way i am being treated ..THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU SIGN ANY AGREEMENT EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE FOR CASH ..

the sme brummie but now even more stressed 07/04/2011   08:14:16

she has now informed me that she is going to apply for an attachment to my earning wich im prety sure she cant do ....can anyone please tell me more on this:-(

still me and on verge of a breakdown ..:-( 08/04/2011   09:30:59

there must be something i can do to stop this ... she is still continuing to harrass me . I'm starting to lose my patients now big time

I'm a Provident agent and the Company have started to fine Agents if Customers fall behind in their payments - £5, £10 and £15 depending on which stage of arrears the Customer is at this is why your agent is now harassing you, although she is TOTALLY out of order for doing this especially confronting you in public. My advice is simple complain to the Financial Services Authority and also to Trading Standards. They are terrified of losing their License and the more complaints they are subject to the more likely they are to be sanctioned. You really must complain about your treatment, they can't refuse an offer of payment and believe me most people just stop paying completely and never hear another thing about it, although do bear in mind you could be Credit Blacklisted for this. "provident loan"

I was very silly and at the age of 19, not ever taken out a loan before and being declined for a loan everywhere else i tryed for one at provident. I had £1,500 and i wud be paying back £2,400 @ 79.9 APR. The money was going to be paid into my bank the same day and being young and rather naive i excepted and signed, excitment taking over worry or care. At the time though i was in work and could afford to pay the monthly payments. But when i left my parents house and moved into my own place in a city during the resession i began having difficulty making my payments. I didnt pay it for a few months and lived with worry and was to worried to even call and talk to them. Eventually i got the courage to call them and explain my circumstances and i was very relieved. They were kind and understanding and didnt make any demands from me other than to just call and pay whatever i can as often as i can. I am now living back where i started and back in work and now made a new agreement which i can afford to pay and even if there is a month that i cant they do not pester me calling or coming to my house. and they also do not give me any charges. I owe what i owe and pay what i can. Overall i think they are a very kind, friendly, understanding and helpfull service. No matter what loans we get though im sure we all regret getting it so my advise is just dont bother!!lol

"too easy to get a loan"

i would like to worn people to think twice before getting a loan of provident,so easy to get,you tell then you dont want to go over a set amount weekly payment, but when they get offers on,the agent come's back and tell you that you can have a loan,so you take a loan out and your payment goes even higher i am now paying £40 per weeks to then and i never wanted to go over £20 per week between me and the wife they are taking 52 per week over 52 weeks,so be warned very easy to take out loan but please think hard about it,thats my advice, the interest is too high
