Cabot Financial

Cabot Financial is a debt recovery company.

They buy debt that is in arrears from finance companies, telecommunications suppliers and pretty much any other type of company that people may have fallen behind on their repayments with.

Usually Cabot Financial will buy debt from creditors for a fraction of what you owe, but like most debt recovery companies, they will usually chase you for the full amount.

    "Are they having a laugh......."

I have been working with a third party to clear my debts and one of the creditors happens to Cabot.....30 days to receive a statement!!!!! bearing in mind I have not received anything since 2011. How do they expect you to have faith in the system if: 1. You don't even know what monthly they could be including despite the agreement made and 2. If everything is supposedly computerised/automated how long does it take calculate your monthly premiums and produce a statement?????

    "Just talk to them"

A next retail debt of mine got sold to cabot. I had recently been recieving a few calls on my phone which i had been ignoring. One day i decided to answer and it was cabot. initially the requested the balance in full which was impossible for me at the time. i explained my circumstances and told the how much i was earning and stuff and they set up a monthly repayment plan.

    "Cabot are sly"

Cabot bought a halifax debt a few years ago, I requested CCA DOCUMENTS to which they sent me some information they think is a properly excuted agreement but having taken a look into it, the info they sent me does not form as a proper agreement which in turn makes the debt unenforceable. This makes me able to withold payments till they hand over the proper paperwork. In refusing to pay they launched harrasment on me bombarding me with letters and phone calls sometimes 10x daily so after back and forth with letters i decided to take legal advice to make sure I was right. It turns out I am right after all I shouldnt have doubted myself, so my solicitor made contact on my behalf and warned of harrassment and injunctions against them which made cabot back off a touch, low and behold they passed on the debt to FIRE ltd which in turn got the solicitors letter which they sent back to cabot and now cabot passed it on again to Clarity so im in the position to either carry on the way I am or go back to my solicitors and ask them to file for injunction against cabot for harrasment of pursuing this debt that is not enforceable. Cabot stands by their word saying it is enforceable but really if it was then I am sure they would have gone further by now. Not nice people to deal with over the phone so ask for all contact to be made in writing as they can be quite aggresssive with their collections.

    "Just purchased CitiFinancial debts"

Cabot just purchased the debts I had with CitiFinancial. So no experience of them yet, but whilst Cabot have purchased the debt they have farmed out the collections to Collect Direct (part of IMFS)!
