Reliable Collections

Reliable Collections is a debt recovery company.

They buy debt that is in arrears from finance companies, telecommunications suppliers and pretty much any other type of company that people may have fallen behind on their repayments with.

Usually Reliable Collections will buy debt from creditors for a fraction of what you owe, but like most debt recovery companies, they will usually chase you for the full amount.

    "Horrible"

This company is horrible, and like so many others they resorted to their bullying tactics with me. I had enough! they never seem to acknowledge letters even when sent via recorded delivery and call center staff arr all unhelpful and rude and to the point of harassment they called me and called me, Until I had really had enough so I called the financial ombudsman and the office of fair trading stating that they where dealing with my situation unfairly and that there actually where in breach of the lending code etc. this seemed to drive the message home and my lower payment was accepted

    "IVA"

I am in the process of setting up a IVA and have informed all my creditors every step of the way regarding this and have been completely honest with them. Out of 13 creditors Reliable Collections are the only company that have been persistant and impatience. They are completely arrogant and not understanding into my situation at all. I have received 74 phone calls from them in 3 weeks and dozens of letters. They demand a payment every time I contact them and question my personal circumstances. I also received a threatening letter informing me they were sending someone to my house on a certain day (this was the same day as I received the letter). This resorted to me having to leave my house with my children for a number of hours as I really did not want to be confronted with this. When I contacted them about it they were noncompliant until I threatened them with legal action for harrassment. This company are complete scum and should not be allowed to operate. In a society where people are struggling to pay debts because of loss of jobs, pay cuts etc surely these companies should be empathic and understanding and willing to help people, not make them feel threatened!!!!! Entering an IVA is a serious issue and a hard decision to make without the unneccessary stress of people like RELIABLE COLLECTIONS.

    "Unhelpful Company"

My tenants left in late 2011. Letters arrived from JD Williams which I returned marked "gone away". These kept arriving and then what looked like debt collection letters started to arrive.Trying to be helpful and to prevent a debt collector from arriving on the doorstep I contacted Reliable Collections Ltd (which I believe are part of the JD Williams group). The Fraud Department shuts early on a Friday so I used one of the other options on the system (tel number 0844 854 0080) and asked the guy to take amessage. HE REFUSED!! He told me I would have to contact option 4 which is the FRAUD team. It made me feel like I was the one owing money.Do these people want to collect debts or not??? I had some limited info to give them.Today as yet more mail has arrived I managed to contact FRAUD. They said they were not ignoring the returned mail but they will continue to send letters to the old address as they don't have a new one and their system cannot cope with anything else. Not very impressive and I consider it to be intimidation and harrassment as well as not looking good when I get new tenants in the near future.

    "Rude, unhelpful and wont listen"

I spoke to a chap at Reliable collections, I did inform him that I would be going to the Financial Obmudsman about them... He told me that because I was not going through a debt management firm they would apply interest which would be more than I was paying.... I eventually put the phone down on him!!!

    "Reliable Collections"

I have had a letter from this Company today stating they will be phoning my home between 6 and 9pm. I actually rang them and offered a settlement there and then to be told they could not sort a settlement out with me and could not cancel any of their extortionate charges. I then said I would pay £5 per month until the debt was cleared, to be told by their very rude phone advisor that that wouldnt be good enough! I tried to find a website for them and surprise surprise they havent got one!! Con merchants springs to mind!! Im going to try and contact the catalogue company directly and get this sorted once and for all.
